Snow Day
Filmmakers in attendance

(USA) RT 59 Mins

Director: Erica Milsom

Producers: Krissy Cababa, Kim Donovan

Snow Day is an hour-long documentary about life, death, and skiing that follows a group of senior skiers on their weekly trip up the Rockies. Though the film never veers into the perils of the Colorado backcountry, it still manages to face down death and ponder the importance and beauty of a moment on the slopes from the ensemble perspective of six aging skiers. Full of life, but frequently facing profound adversity, these men and women share stories of love, loss, and personal growth which play out in high contrast to the freedom and athleticism they exhibit on the mountain.

Description: Barely a decade old, speedriding is a high-speed, high stakes mountain sport that fuses elements of skiing and parachute flight. This hybrid approach to the alpine gives its intrepid practitioners access to terrain that would otherwise be inaccessible.
In The Unrideables: Alaska Range, one of the foremost experts on human flight, Jon DeVore, sets out with a team of elite aerial athletes to evolve the sport in North America’s most remote and demanding mountain environment.

The Dawn Wall Preview and Q&A

Climber Kevin Jorgeson will be in attendance to screen never-before-seen footage of his recent epic climb of El Capitan’s Dawn Wall with Tommy Caldwell, from the new documentary by Big Up Productions and Sender Films.

Considered by many, “The hardest route ever climbed,” and “The Climb of the Century,” the climb garnered worldwide media attention and was featured on the front page of the New York Times

In 2009, Kevin Jorgeson asked Tommy Caldwell if he needed a partner for his new project on El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. Over the next six years, Tommy and Kevin spent hundreds of days working out the pieces, failing constantly, but keeping the dream alive that one day they might free climb the Dawn Wall. On December 27, 2014, Kevin and Tommy started their “push” to leave the ground and not return until they either succeeded or were stormed off. 19 days later, their dream became a reality when they stood on the top of El Capitan.
